Princess brass handcuffs

€299.00
No French VAT due

There are just a few left, but I'm waiting for everyone that registered for the run in March to receive theirs and to check with the people on the Chewie list if they want to switch before selling the last ones. Get in touch and I'll put you on the waitlist, but cannot make any promises as they are very limited.

Princess brass handcuffs from ANH. Reproduced as I normally process, modelled and 3D matched on all the refs I could get. However, this prop is particular in the sense it is the only one where I had access to the original production blueprints, so that helped tremendously for overall size and details. They are functional like the original prop, it's a crude design, but it works well :-)

A few disclaimers, I'm sorry as I normally don't really do that with other projects, but there are a few particularities this time and I want to be clear upfront. I hope you'll love your prop though, It's was an actually labour of love and pain and I'm really proud of the result.

- this is absolutely not an idealized prop, it is made from raw brass tubes like the original prop. The handcuffs have bumps, scratches, oxidation. When buying that prop, you have to be ok with this, I have tried my best all along the project to show how it was made and what it looked like, I have depicted the props as honestly as I could with the photos and I hope the flaws are obvious and should be part of the appeal of the prop. If you see those as issues, I'm sorry to say this prop is not intended for you. I won't be taking returns because the brass is raw, please understand this, it is a very raw, un-idealized, weathered prop that looks as close as possible to the real prop :-)

- there are pointy edges everywhere, I have broken them down a little bit so they are not sharp, but to keep the final prop as close as possible to the original, and have clean lines and clean fit between all the parts, everything is still pretty pointy. Please be carefull when handling the prop, and please never apply excessive force to close the clasps for instance, your fingers could skid and get injured relatively badly, I can't be held responsible for this! If the clasps is hard to close, be calm and meticulous, wiggle the parts a little bit while trying to put them back together until it works. They have all been tested many times and are a bit tight on purpose so the mecanism can hold by friction, but they all work very well :-)

- this prop is functional, but it is mainly intended for display purposes and to be handled occasionaly, it is not intended as a cosplay - or bedroom - item, two reasons, pointy edges mentioned above, and durability. I certainly hope the prop will last a lifetime and I think it's pretty tough, however, it's still held together by small brass screws that could break over too much stress, and the clasps are pressure fit, so it's possible opening and closing them a hundred time will wore down the fit over time. I would say, do not abuse it, it is still a collector item most of all. What honestly worries me more is the screws as their durability is unpredictable, but in case the clasps would become loose, it is still possible to carefully clamp the clasp in a small vice and bend the stainless steel rod a tiny bit to add more pressure to the fit. This has to be done very carefully though!

- each clasp part was pressure fit to its own cuff, they are not intended to be switched from left to right cuff as they might not fit or hold well.

- oh, one more thing! The stainless steel rods for the clasps have a straight knurl and are pressure fit with my mill vice, with a drop of super glue inside the hole. I really hope they won't fail, there was no other way that I could think of, so I hope they will hold. If one fail, i'm so sorry, please try to re-attach it the same way, a drop of super glue and something to press it together, or push it against a hard surface very strongly. Use a piece of paper to avoid marring the brass when applying pressure to it. Or if you figure something better, soldering or something if that is possible, I don't really know.
